IS IT LACK OF FAITH OR GASLIGHTING?

AM I REALLY A THREAT TO THE DEVIL IF I DO NOT GIVE UP? OR IS MY FREE WILL BEING MANIPULATED?

Faith is a personal or shared trust in the unseen, (GODS FUTURE) grounded in free will, love, and emotional safety, whereas gaslighting is a form of psychological manipulation that distorts your sense of reality, memory, or sanity to maintain control. When religious or spiritual language is used to cross the line from faith into manipulation, it is often called spiritual gaslighting.

TRUE FAITH

  • Encourages personal growth, free choice, and independent thinking.
  • Welcomes questions, offers compassionate presence, and sits with grief.
  • Accepts responsibility, seeks truth, and honors healthy boundaries.
  • Fosters inner peace, safety, clarity, and comfort.

SPIRITUAL GASLIGHTING

  • Strips away your voice, intuition, and independent judgment.
  • Punishes doubt as rebellion, sin, or a "lack of faith".
  • Blames the victim, twists scripture, and dodges accountability.
  • Causes chronic anxiety, self-doubt, confusion, and trauma.

HOW DOES THIS LOOK IN REAL TIME?

  1. Faith listens to your suffering: It sits with you in hard times without needing to slap a toxic silver lining or a cheap platitude on your pain. Gaslighting weaponizes your pain: It tells you that your grief is a sign of spiritual failure, spiritual progress, or claims "God won't give you more than you can handle" to silence your distress.
  2. Faith respects boundaries: It invites relationship through love, honesty, and voluntary trust. Gaslighting demands submission: It uses divine authority ("God told me..." or "Questioning me is questioning God") to make you second-guess your own sanity or perception of abuse.

HOW SHOULD I HANDLE THIS? SET BOUNDARIES.

Setting boundaries is the practice of defining what you need to feel safe, respected, and stable, and then communicating those limits clearly. It is not about controlling someone else's behavior; it is about deciding what you will do to protect your own well-being.

  • Pay attention to your resentment. If you feel resentful, anxious, or drained after an interaction, a boundary has likely been crossed.
  • Define your "yes" and "no": Decide what behaviors, topics of conversation, or demands on your time you are no longer willing to accept.

Use the "If / Then" Formula. A complete boundary has two parts: your request and your consequence. If you do not enforce a consequence, you haven't set a boundary—you've made a suggestion. EXAMPLE: "If you [behavior], then I will [action]." EXAMPLE: (Spiritual/Family): "If you continue to tell me that my doubts mean I lack faith, then I am going to end this phone call." (Emotional): "If you yell at me during an argument, then I will leave the room until we can speak calmly." (Time/Energy): "If you text me about work matters after 7 PM, then I will not reply until the next business morning." Avoid negotiating: If the other person tries to argue, minimize your feelings, or gaslight you, simply repeat the boundary. You do not need their permission for the boundary to be valid. Deliver It Clearly and Neutrally. When stating your boundary, keep it short, direct, and free of emotional justification. You do not need to over-explain, apologize, or debate your right to have a limit. State the boundary firmly: Use a calm, matter-of-fact tone. Execute the Consequence. This is the hardest but most crucial step. If the person crosses the line you drew, you must immediately follow through with the action you promised. Do not give endless warnings: If you said you would leave the room, leave the room. Focus on your peace: Remember that enforcing the boundary is an act of self-care, not a punishment for them.

        MY PRAYER FOR YOU TODAY

        Heavenly Father,

We come to You in a moment of deep exhaustion and confusion. You are the God who binds up the brokenhearted, and You see the pain of having Your name and Your Word used to twist reality, cause self-doubt, and inflict hurt.

Lord, give me the supernatural strength and courage to set firm boundaries. Your Word says that You have not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind. I claim that sound mind today. Clear away the fog of manipulation and anxiety, and restore my trust in the intuition and discernment You have placed within me.

Help me to remember that boundaries are not a lack of faith; they are an act of stewardship over the life and peace You have entrusted to me. Grant me the grace to speak the truth in love, but with absolute firmness. Let my "yes" be yes, and my "no" be no.

When fear, guilt, or spiritual intimidation try to make me shrink back, ground my feet like a rock. Give me the resolve to walk away from spaces and conversations that demand my submission at the expense of my sanity. Wrap me in Your emotional safety, and surround me with a community that reflects Your true heart—one of freedom, accountability, and genuine love.

In THE ONLY powerful and protecting name of JESUS!
