'So Peter was kept in prison, but the church was earnestly praying to God for him. The night before Herod was to bring him to trial, Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains, and sentries stood guard at the entrance. Suddenly an angel of the Lord appeared and a light shone in the cell. He struck Peter on the side and woke him up. “Quick, get up!” he said, and the chains fell off Peter’s wrists. Then the angel said to him, “Put on your clothes and sandals.” And Peter did so. “Wrap your cloak around you and follow me,” the angel told him. Peter followed him out of the prison, but he had no idea that what the angel was doing was really happening; he thought he was seeing a vision.

Acts 12:5-9

There is a book called. 'The Great Escape', by Paul Brickhill. It details an actual escape that required the assistance of many forged documents, caveman tools, and over 600 people to free both American and British Air force officers who were locked up in a German prison camp. "A tense, thrilling, fabulous tale." ―says, the Philadelphia Inquirer.  In today's devotion I want to visit the concept of escape...especially for your freedom. There is an old parable about a man who passed by a camp and spotted elephants that were being held by small ropes tied to their front leg. It was obvious the elephants could break free from their bonds at any time….but for some reason…they didn’t. Amazement and curiosity led the man to seek out the trainer and inquire about why these animals made no attempts to escape. “Well,” the trainer replied, “When the elephants are very young and much smaller, we use the same size rope to tie them and, at that age, it’s enough to hold them. As they grow up, they are conditioned to believe they cannot break away. They believe the rope can still hold them, so they never try to break free.” The man was amazed. These animals could break free from their bonds at any time. But because they believed they couldn’t, there...were stuck right where they are. How often can we be like these elephants? Today if you find yourself locked in a prison whether mental, physical, emotional, or spiritual just know I am praying for you and your release just like the church prayed for Peter. Today is simply my declaration to those who are under the sound of my voice who will receive and those who are assigned to me...not on my watch. Break free today. I declare today is your day of escape. Now quickly, your chains have dropped... It's time to let go. Get out of here.  Get out of that place. Get out of that moment. Get out of that past. It's a great day to plow in your own lane in your own Jeremiah 29:11. God is counting on you. Now do it since you've escaped! I prophesy more grace.
