TO MY SPIRITUAL SONS & DAUGHTERS
When someone continually "copy cats" or mimics you, it can feel frustrating, invalidating, or even boundary-crossing. While the exact phrase "copy cat" is not in the King James Version (KJV) of the Bible, scripture provides profound wisdom on how to handle the spirit behind it—whether they are copying you out of envy, a lack of identity, or a subconscious desire to follow your example.
Here is how to handle a copycat according to KJV scripture:
Often, a copycat is driven by an underlying spirit of comparison or jealousy—trying to snatch what you have because they don't recognize their own unique, God-given purpose. The Bible warns us not to get pulled into that competitive arena.
James 3:16: "For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work."
- Galatians 5:26: "Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another."
- The Lesson: Do not let their behavior change your character. Avoid the temptation to compete with them, to call them out aggressively, or to constantly try to "outdo" them. If you engage in a petty battle of ownership, you invite confusion into your life.
Maintain Your Focus and Protect Your Peace
When Nehemiah was building the wall of Jerusalem, distractors and mockers kept showing up to pull him away from his work. His response is a perfect model for dealing with people who keep interrupting your peace.
- Nehemiah 6:3: "And I sent messengers unto them, saying, I am doing a great work, so that I cannot come down: why should the work cease, whilst I leave it, and come down to you?"
- The Lesson: You are doing a "great work" with your life. Every time you stop to fret, stress, or fixate on the copycat, you are coming down from your wall. Ignore the distraction and keep building.
4. Rely on the Fact That Your True Blessings Cannot Be Stolen
If you are worried that the copycat will steal your success, your identity, or your opportunities, remember that God’s specific calling for your life belongs strictly to you. A person can copy your actions, but they cannot replicate the anointing or the favor God put on your life.
- Proverbs 18:16: "A man's gift maketh room for him, and bringeth him before great men."
- Galatians 6:4: "But let every man prove his own work, and then shall he have rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another."
- The Lesson: Let them copy. Their replication will always lack the depth of your original authenticity. Your custom-made "gift" from God will always make room for you, no matter who is trying to imitate it.
To my sons and daughters...BE ENCOURAGED!! It is CHRIST IN YOU!!
