Inspired by, Why Obey God

Immediately Jesus made his disciples get into the boat and go on ahead of him to Bethsaida, while he dismissed the crowd. ~ Mark 6:45 NIV

There are two accounts in the bible of Jesus walking on water.  The account in Matthew has Jesus and Peter walking on water. But I want to focus on the account in Mark because I believe it unlocks a profound revelation for us as the nation of Jesus Christ. We find that in the account in the book of Mark, Jesus finds the disciples in the middle of a storm as He is walking on the water. It also says that Jesus intended to walk by them.  Now let me pause and say, I believe many of us understand that in life you will have many storms. But some storms can be especially brutal. In these brutal storms we may ask, where is God?  The account in Mark then tells us, Jesus saw them in their storm and intended on passing them by. Wait, did I read that right? Yes, I did. So you mean God, you see us in storms and struggles and you're intending to walk right past me? Why would God do that? Scripture reminds us that Mark 6:45 tells us that Jesus told them to get in the boat and go to Bethsaida. What that means is the plan never changed. The destination hadn't changed. Just because they were in a storm it didn't change the plan and what they were called to do. Jesus didn't intend to stop because the instructions and plan of where they needed to be and what they needed to do never changed. We must be careful in life that we don't allow outward voices and circumstances to change God's plans and destination for our life. My friends, be encouraged and don't change what God said. When the storms come in the middle of our Jeremiah 29:11 God says, nothing has changed. God said, I'll meet you at the destination. No excuses. No storm, no difficulty, no loss has changed my mind about who I said you are and what I told you to do. Be encouraged.
