Dealing with the poverty spirit can be challenging. But Gods word teaches us exactly how to do this in Proverbs 6:9-11. The word of God teaches us that poverty is a foe that is assigned to us. The definition of a foe is an enemy or opponent. Below are some points from my notes about your foe of poverty:

How long will you lie there, you sluggard? When will you get up from your sleep? A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest— and poverty will come on you like a thief and scarcity like an armed man.

  1. ‘Your’ poverty will come on you. Poverty just doesn’t come to attack us. Poverty spirits are assigned to us.
  2. Poverty can only claim you based on your agreements with it.
  3. Laziness and lack of diligence puts you in agreement with the poverty spirit.
  4. Not taking care of natural business and circumstances can bring a poverty spirit. It takes over our lives and tries to fashion our God ordained future.
  5. We are supposed to be a worker and producer. Be lazy just ‘a little’.
  6. Poverty is progressive. The word sleep means to be slack or grow old. There is no driving force or vision. Drowsy speaks of no motivation or depression…this allows poverty to come and over take us, our destiny, and our legacy.
  7. Folding of the hands in idleness. We are not involving ourselves in building the kingdom.
  8. Poverty is not a condition it’s depicted as a prowler and armed man.
  9. The spirit is looking for an opportunity to devour. Searching for a legal right to steal from us. Its a powerful and shielded enemy. 2 Cor 2:11.

To defeat the strong man of poverty you must take away his armor. It’s a process. Prov 13:18 poverty has a legal right when we refuse corrections and instructions. The fear of the Lord is the remedy for this. Heb 12:6.

In part two we will deal with stripping this adversary.

God has finally released me to write and release my very first deliverance manual. After years of doing deliverance, encountering different levels of warfare I'm excited to put most of it in book form. This manual will be detailed, power packed, and filled with my many encounters.
