- We look at identity in Christ in terms of how we are different instead of how we are the same. Ephesians 4:5 says ‘One Lord, one Faith, one baptism. Galatians 2:20 says, I am crucified with Christ, nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me. And the life which I now live in the flesh, I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me. As He is in this world so am I. Christ in you is the hope of glory.
- We only identify with Christ as Savior and not Lord. When we say the Romans 10:9-10 prayer we love the savior part but not so much the Lord part. We say…Lord…You can save me…but let me live as I please. The problem with that is when you don’t come up under the system that rescued you, you are then subjected to the same bondages of the system that has you captured and captive. You want to be rescued from the penalties of something you plan on staying in…by not being converted you sabotage your new life and opportunity to live your Jeremiah 29:11. We got hyped, but not enough to change.
- We only want connection and not conversion. When we are connected to something…this is an attachment. When we are converted to something we are convinced and adapt to become suitable for a new purpose. Romans 12:1-2
- We talk the talk but can’t walk the walk. 1 Corinthians 4:20 For the kingdom of God does not consist in talk but in power. We sabotage our identity when we say what God says but can’t do what God does. As He is in this world so am I.
